Creative Thinking in Education

This Creative Thinking in Education course for Teachers, Administrators and Heads of Schools explores new ways and focuses on Creative Thinking to generate new ideas and how this can be applied to professionals. It includes aspects such as challenging popular myths, listing the risks involved in decisions and generating vision for projects.

The main objective of this 5 day training course is to provide participants with a better appreciation of what creative thinking is and why schools, colleges and higher education institutions should invest in providing education in these skills.

Participants will be trained in different creative thinking skills and will learn how to use these tools in the class room both as a subject by itself and also as a tool to be used in support to teaching other subjects.

Participants will also learn how to use creative thinking tools to support their communication skills, project management and to use their creativity when developing extra-curricular activities for their schools and colleges.

Course Modules:


Module 1

Building the Innovation Society.
EU policies promoting creativity and innovation.
Overview of creative thinking.
Opportunities of using creative thinking in education.

Module 2

Barriers to creative thinking: personal and institutional.
Psychological barriers to creative thinking.
Characteristics of creative thinkers.
Overview of creative thinking tools.

Module 3

Exercises on how to use creative thinking tools.
Applications of creative thinking in Education and Training.
Developing innovative courseware in various subjects.

Module 4

Teaching students creative thinking.
Creative Hit Lists and identifying challenges in education.
Lessons learned.

Module 5

Generating innovative educational products and services.
Evaluating use of creative thinking in education.



This training course will also include 3 cultural visits so participants can experience cultural heritage and they will be trained to use such heritage as a stimulus for creative thinking and idea generation. 

Schools and educational institutions that would like to give this training course to their members of staff can apply for funding under the Erasmus+ KA1 Programme.

A certificate of attendance together with a detailed description of the modules covered during the course will be presented upon completion.   

 

Dates of the Course: Next course starting on 26th June to 30th June 2017                       

Duration: 5 Day course (total 30 hours) from 9.30 to 17.00 (including 2 coffee breaks and a lunch break)

Participants coming from 5 different countries participated in the course which included teachers and administrators from Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany.

The second Creative Thinking in Education course took place in Malta on the 3rd April and ended on 7th April 2017.

Participants coming from 2 different countries participated in the course which included college teachers and administrators from The Netherlands and Germany.
